Investigation at the C.I.A. Looks for Favors Among Friends - New York Times
Among the well-wishers at the event in 2002 were Mr. Foggo’s childhood friend, Brent R. Wilkes, a military contractor, and Representative Randy Cunningham, a Republican from Mr. Wilkes’s hometown, San Diego. That day might have been a high-water mark for all three. Mr. Cunningham, whose nickname is Duke, is in prison after pleading guilty to accepting bribes from contractors. Mr. Wilkes, described in court papers as one of the contractors, is under investigation, and Mr. Foggo, who later became a top Central Intelligence Agency official, is under scrutiny for possible irregularities in awarding agency logistics deals to both Mr. Wilkes and another businessman, according to a recent Congressional report.
The Raw Story | Ex-officials question IRS delay in Katrina back-tax collection
"The commissioner of internal revenue has ordered his agency to delay collecting back taxes from Hurricane Katrina victims until after the Nov. 7 elections and the holiday season," writes David Cay Johnston, "saying he did so in part to avoid negative publicity."
How to steal an election by hacking the vote : Page 1
I'm going to show you how to steal an election.
VIRGINIA, FLORIDATED Greg Palast
The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School says that Virginia’s methods of rejecting voters had a notably racial bias. Golly. Put the two numbers together — the 91,000 citizens questionably barred from voting and the teeny-weeny Senate vote margin, and Virginia begins to look a lot like Florida on the Potomac. The blockade of voters at the Virginia polling station doors followed on last year’s promise of Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman to mount a, “challenge to voter eligibility” in Virginia. Mehlman vowed, through an attack on the voter rolls, to “do whatever we can” to keep control of Virginia. And he did. Voters blocked (and other purged from voter rolls) received “provisional ballots.” The state only counts about 15% of these.
RUMSFELD: VIRGIN FOR THE VOLCANO Greg Palast
It wasn’t Rumsfeld who stood up in front of the UN and identified two mobile latrines as biological weapons labs, was it, General Powell?
It wasn’t Rumsfeld who told us our next warning from Saddam could be a mushroom cloud, was it Ms. Rice?
It wasn’t Rumsfeld who declared that al-Qaida and Saddam were going steady, was it, Mr. Cheney?
Yes, Rumfeld is a swaggering bag of mendacious arrogance, a duplicitous chickenhawk, yellow-bellied bully-boy and tinker-toy Napoleon - but he didn’t appoint himself Secretary of Defense.
CounterPunch - The Downside of Capitalism
Private traders are now installed at all the strategic nodes, gambling with stratospheric sums in such speculative pyramids as the credit derivative market which was almost nonexistent in 2001, yet which reached $17.3 trillion by the end of 2005. Warren Buffett, America's most famous investor, has called credit derivatives "financial weapons of mass destruction."
David Swanson: Subpoena Envy: Democrats Have the Power, But Will They Use It?
In each of the nine cases in the past when one party has raised impeachment, that party has benefitted in the next elections. In other cases when a party has failed to press for impeachment when the grounds for it were widely known, that party has suffered. (Remember Iran Contra?)

Bush, for willfully violating his Oath of Office to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and if found guilty urges his removal from office and disqualification to hold any other office in the United States.
France 24 news to challenge CNN, BBC - MarketWatch
While Francois Mitterand commissioned I.M. Pei's Louvre pyramid, soon-to-be-retired French President Jacques Chirac is betting on France 24, a round-the-clock French CNN, to cement his legacy. It will be about "seeing the world through a filter other than that of CNN, BBC World and [Al] Jazeera," according to a France 24 press kit.
Rep. Ney of Ohio resigns from Congress - Yahoo! News
"The Republican leadership has allowed Bob Ney to receive his paycheck and benefits for seven weeks after his admission of guilt to criminal conspiracy charges — it is an embarrassment to this institution and an insult to the American taxpayer," Pelosi said
