Special preview screening of Uncommon Knowledge: Closing the Books at UC Berkeley Extension, Eliza Hemenway's haunting new film documenting the abrupt closure of UC Berkeley Extension's Laguna Street campus in San Francisco. The screening will be followed by a discussion about the University's controversial plans to convert the historic six-acre campus into a lucrative private real estate development.
Speakers include producer and director Eliza Hemenway, best-selling author Gray Brechin (Imperial San Francisco: Urban Power, Earthly Ruin), and San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi. Sponsored by the New College Media Studies MA Program.
