LGBTQ TOWN HALL MEETING - TONIGHT - OCTOBER 25TH
Discussion and update on LGBTQ Community Safety
Sierra 2 - Curtis Hall room, 6 pm to 8 pm
Leaders with the LGBTQ community have issued an invitation to all interested parties to attend a Town Hall meeting, scheduled for October 25, 2006, from 6 to 8 pm at Curtis Hall in the Sierra 2 Center (2791 24th Street, Sacramento). The first part of the meeting will include an update on efforts by local community leaders to address the concerns about recent protests against the LGBTQ community lead by certain religious/ethnic groups in our city, which will include a Power Point presentation by Tina Reynolds on the background and history of our local situation. The second part of the meeting will be a focus on community safety for the LGBTQ community. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the meeting.
Dr. Darrick Lawson, President of the Stonewall Democratic Club will act as Moderator. Representatives from Sacramento Police and Sheriff’s Departments will speak on safety and our rights. Darrell Steinberg will give an update on efforts by the Capital Unity Council. Wendy Hill from Sacramento NOW and Jade Baranski representing Queer Youth will also present as members of the panel.
