QUADROPHENIA at Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In
QUADROPHENIA
Friday October 27th, 8:00pm
Railroad Tracks at Fair Ave, Santa Cruz
(Always Free!)
Come dressed as a Mod or a Rocker!
Quadrophenia, a haunting and richly-textured 1979 epic follows Jimmy, a young and disillusioned working-class rebel trying to find himself in London. A scooter-riding, pill-popping, sharp-dressed kid, Jimmy and his fellow Mods battle the Rockers in 1964 Brighton. (Yes, it's based on The Who rock opera of the same name, but its nothing like the other Who rock opera Tommy. Where Tommy is self-indulgent hallucinogenic fantasy, Quadrophenia is gritty realism.) Rico hosts.
PLUS a ride, bike valet parking, intermission, urban wasteland, and great company.
BRING lawn chairs, blankets, pillows, friends, wine, & food to share for intermission. Donations are greatly appreciated and directly support the project.
SANTA CRUZ GUERILLA DRIVE-IN is an outdoor movie theatre under the stars that springs up in the fields and industrial wastelands.
