Daniel Ellsberg & Raging Grannies: Backstage Oct 5

by Bill Carpenter & the Grannies (info [at] raginggrannies.com)
The world can't wait...neither can rain-drenched and weary Grannies! Left backstage for over an hour despite directions from WCW organizers that they should arrive early and would definitely be on the program, the Raging Grannies took control of the situation, in a most Grannarific way. Includes photos and 41 second Quicktime video

Daniel Ellsberg approached the Grannies, saying he would like to wipe his nose before speaking on stage. Granny Jane rummaged through her well-stocked Granny bag and came up with a kleenex, not recognizing him....

"What's up with that, Grannies...it's almost time for the march to start and the stage managers now say there is NO TIME for us to sing our 1 minute song? Huh?"

Grannies have reached consensus on plan of action, and Granny Judy leads us to STORM THE STAGE.

Grannies appeared before adoring fans and the press, and were broadcast on evening news channels 2 and 5, singing and interviewing. Grannies came to SF from as far as San Jose and Sonoma County to cheer the marchers as the headed off to demonstrate loudly against war. Young folks thanked the Grans repeatedly and Grans are most envious of their energy. Generations working together can stop this WAR! This Photo by Chris Brey.

The Raging Grannies are one of America's greatest natural resources.
They are sunshine on the faces of the Bush vampires. During the impeachment
hearings next year, I'll be happy to play mandolin with them in front of Congress!
Let's watch the entire Bush cabinet contort and squirm and turn to dust!

I once knew a nice young lad named Michael (Daniel's son) ... the radical letter-writer.

I knew he went to college ... but, then, I lost touch with him. I wonder how he is doing and what he is up to now.

Remember the Big Wild!?!

I met Michael Ellsberg Oct. 11 at an Elderhostel seminar on Thomas Merton in Kentucky. He has written 3 books, religious in nature and was a special friend of Dorothy Day.
