TH, OCT 19TH @ 7 PM--John Ross--"The Zapatistas' Place in History" Lecture and Book Signing Ceremony. John Ross is the foremost chronicler of Mexico's indigenous Zapatista rebels. In The War Against Oblivion: Zapatista Chronicles 1994-2000 and in his current book, "Making Another World Possible: Zapatista Chronicles, 2000-2006" Ross recounts the continuing efforts of the Zapatistas to protect their rebellion through the establishment of indigenous, consensus based, self governing communities in Zapatista controlled territories. John Ross is a Latin American correspondent who regularly contributes to the Los Angeles Weekly and San Francisco Bay Guardian. His 2005 book, "Murdered by Capitalism: A Memoir of 150 Years of Life and Death on the American Left" was a San Francisco Chronicle Book of the Year and won the Upton Sinclair award.
