Does Santa Cruz need desalination, or can water reclamation projects and
conservation measures provide enough clean water for our future? Come to the
debate between local experts at the free, public October 17 WILPF meeting to
gain the information residents need to make an informed decision about
desalination in our area. UCSC Professor Brent Haddad, an expert on water
policy and management, will give an overview of desalination. Then Aldo
Giacchino, Chair of the Executive Committee of the local chapter of the
Sierra Club, and Mike Rotkin, Santa Cruz city councilmember, will debate
about the pros and cons of desalination.

7 pm, Tuesday October 17 at the Quaker Meeting House, 225 Rooney St., Santa
Cruz (off the Morrissey exit). For more information call 457-6797.
