Allan deSouza is a new Assistant Professor in the New Genres Department at SFAI. An artist and writer, deSouza’s works address constructions of the body and social space in relation to migration, desire, and the nation. His photographs, sculptures, installations, and performances have been exhibited extensively in museums and galleries in the US and internationally, including The Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; Centre Pompidou, Paris; and Mori Art Museum, Tokyo. His writing has appeared in various artist catalogues, journals and anthologies. deSouza is a contributing editor for X-TRA, an LA-based arts magazine. He is also a visiting graduate faculty member in the MFA Program at Vermont College.
