A letter condemning the Sentinel lack of coverage
Damn Sentinel not covering the real news
To whom it may concern,
On September 15th many of our fellow community members participated in a rally as well as a reclamation of our streets in response to the recent immigration raids that took many of our brothers and sisters away. First of all I applaud the Sentinel for originally covering the raids but I question were you guys were when the community decided to act upon the news? Is it no longer news worthy when it is the people creating the news, or does it need to happen to the people for it to be entertaining enough to publish??
Either way I think it is important to spread the word that there are many members of this community who are not just living life after the raids as any other day- many of us will not allow the 107 abducted community members be forgotten. The actions of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency had nothing to do with keeping our community safe, and everything to do with stifling the voice of the people. It is no coincidence that the initiative known as ‘Operation Return To Sender’ got under way in May after millions of people took to the streets demanding Amnesty for all immigrants. ICE is not welcome in our community, we will not be pushed around by the state- and if the state, local legislatures, and local law enforcement will not protect the people the people will protect themselves. I encourage the Sentinel to stand behind the people and continue to report the actions of people in this community.
Join us for a protest against the recent ICE Raids.
