Friday: Old School Bike Ride

by grouchomonarchs
Do you miss the old days back in the school yard. Well, wait no longer because they’re back and on bikes! On September 15, get ready for a bike blast from the past with fun and games for everyone.

By the way, this ride directly supports the replacement of war demanding cars with muscle building calves (on bikes).

FRIday PIEday! Ride last week was a dish full of fun. 18 riders met downtown and received a cooking lesson from a visiting french chef on how to make organic, whole soil pies. (Mud Pies) using Pacific Avenue planter dirt. Then the crew road down Soquel Ave to see the site of bike lanes that have been promised for two years. The city claims they will be striped this October!
Leaving scenic Soquel we ventured onto the site of a future Bike Boulevard: Rodriguez Street, a beautiful neighborhood road that parallels Capitola for long way with little car traffic. Finally we arrived a a giant Pear Tree, where riders practiced climbing, shakin' and cursin' ...anything to get the pears to come down. After we had too many pears (an black berries) two youth climed a 50 foot pine tree to rescue Granma Rae's recipe for pie crust. (Who put that up there anyway?) Pears were boiled in blackberry-tapioca-cinamin-soup , crusts were baked and all finally pies were enjoyed around a roaring bonfire. Thanks to everyone for creating the yummy pies and to the visitors from LA and SF who went to TJ's for tons of frozen Soy and Cow Cream.

Very carfully, the Chef inspects the pie for homade authenticity. (also listening for spy recording bugs).

He climbed the 50' Pine tree to retrieve the recipe...he deserves some ice cream and pie.
