Protest AC Transit Assault
On Workers & Riders
The Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 192 is fed up with the humiliating treatment of transit workers and riders by AC Transit Management-and we will no longer be silent! We are calling on all transit workers to join us in a day of protest on Tuesday, August 29th-starting at 10:30 AM at AC Transit Offices at 1600 Franklin St.
AC Transit Violates Our Contract, the Law, and our Dignity
* AC managers misuse public funds by pursuing many unnecessary legal actions against workers.
*AC blatantly violates several sections of our contract like requiring doctor's notes for one day sick when the contract clearly requires a note on the third day
*Maintenance crews are constantly understaffed and replacement parts are unavailable to maintain safe buses.
*AC considers Kin Care absences a violation of the attendance policy
*AC drives up the cost of health care with its demands for more unnecessary doctor's visits and paperwork. Administrative cost already eat up 35-40% of health care costs.
*AC refuses to provide adequate lunch breaks for bus drivers. They want to remove our layover time and call it "lunch"-if we're lucky enough to get it at all!
*AC still considers stinking, unsafe Port-a-Potties adequate bathroom facilities for drivers.
Unsafe Buses, Unjust Fare and Transfer Policies Hurt Riders
*AC has the highest fares and most restrictive transfer policy in the Bay Area despite the poorest rider-ship no BART Plus
*New Van Pool buses are unsafe for seniors and disabled riders while bad driver's seats and suspension hurt drivers.
*Constant service cuts and route changes disrupt rider's and operator's lives.
