Women for Peace will open their film series with a 75-minute documentary, The Big Buy about the rise and fall of Tom DeLay and how corporate interests are de-stroying democracy. The film will be shown on Oct. 14 (Sat) from 2-4 pm at the Rockridge Branch, Oak-land Public Library, 5366 College Ave., Oakland (near Rockridge BART).
Also, there will be another film, a discussion of The Big Buy, and a presentation on Proposition 89 by the Clean Money Campaign, Yes on Oct. 16 (Mon) 7-9 pm at the Rockridge Branch, Oakland Public Library, 5366 College Ave., Oakland (near Rockridge BART).
The Big Buy is a look at the criminal investigation of Texas Congressman Tom DeLay on campaign fund-raising charges and his efforts to redraw the state's Congressional districts.
This carefully edited film shows the difference be-tween the rhetoric of Tom DeLay and his supporters compared to the truth as it came out in the grand jury investigation and the prosecution by Ronnie Earle, the district attorney in Austin, Texas. An exciting view of corruption unveiled. Rated 7.8 out of 10 points by Internet Movie Data Base users.
