Community Preview Screening of Acclaimed Documentary THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SESAME STREET followed by a panel discussion. There is no charge to attend this event and is open to the public.
The film follows three producers from the Sesame Street Workshop in New York City to Bangladesh, Kosovo and South Africa where they localize the world’s most-watched children’s television program with indigenous songs, puppets and curricula. The cultural and production challenges they face reflect the complex political struggles of each country. Education is always more than alphabets and numbers, and the contradictions inherent in teaching humane values in a world where AIDS, ethnic genocide and poverty dominate the landscape make this film a must-see for anyone interested in intercultural dialogue.
Panelist include: Milton Chen, Ph.D. Executive Director of The George Lucas Educational FoundationDana Curran, Executive Director, World Savvy, Chivy Sok, AIUSA Ginetta Sagan Fund and the Women's Institute for Leadership Development for Human Rights and Lisa Ruth Shulman, Associate Executive Director of the International Child Resource Institute
