"Be Peace Now" in Golden Gate Park on September 9th
Power to the Peaceful 2006
On Saturday, September 9th, musician and filmmaker Michael Franti and his group Spearhead with Guerrilla Management presented the 8th Annual 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park. "Be Peace Now" was this year's theme, "reminding us that the path to a less violent world starts from within. Each one of us must commit to what we want to see reflected in the world."
In addition to the main stage of live music, PTTP also featured morning yoga, an open-air art gallery, a healing arts tent, a DJ tent, vendors and food booths, an eco village, kid's zone, bike parking by the SF Bicycle Coalition, and social, environmental and political organizations tabling and forums. A second stage was been added for this year. The festival began at 9am with morning yoga, and lasted until 5pm. Artists on the stages included Blackalicious, Los Mocosos, and T-K.a.s.h.
