* Rob Los Ricos: Anarchist activist, writer and former political prisoner * Rob "los Ricos" Thaxton is an anarchist activist and writer who was recently released after serving 7 years in Oregon prisons. We are raising funds to support Rob while he adjusts to life on the outside. This will be his first speaking engagement in the Bay Area since his release in June.
* Richard Brown: Grand jury resister and former black panther *
Richard recently spent several weeks in prison for resisting a grand jury subpoena. He is speaking on his experiences with the black panther party and the history of state repression against movements for social change. He is a close friend and comrade of John Bowman and is speaking to help raise funds for John's medical expenses.
Raffle:
We will be raffling off goods and services from several bay area
organizations to raise funds for John Bowman's medical expenses.
John Bowman, a former Black Panther and recent SF Grand Jury resister, has just been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. We are trying to raise $5-10,000 to help him seek additional medical care in the hopes of extending his life. This brother is a wonderful human being and has given the best part of his life to his community and the original principles of the Black Panther Party.
Look on indybay for more information on the raffle, what we will be offering, and locations around the bay area where you can purchase tickets.
