Wine, delightful hors d'oeuvres and a program to recognize established and emerging peacemakers.
Honoring: THE 2006 LONG HAUL PRIZE WINNER: Elizabeth Stinson. Having worked for peace and human rights locally, nationally, and internationally for more than 35 years, Elizabeth is currently the Director of the Sonoma County Peace and Justice Center. In recent years, a major focus of her work has been in high schools and colleges, training youth to counter the military recruiters on their campuses. In addition, since the start of the Iraqi war she has helped more than 400 service men and women separate from various branches of the armed services.
And Announcing THE 2006 RISING PEACEMAKER PRIZE WINNER Finalists: Banafsheh Akhlaghi of the National Legal Sanctuary for Community Advancement (NLSCA), Grandmothers Against the War, and Let's Get Free, a project of the Ella Baker Center.
