"I am writing to ask you to join Amnesty Internationalís global vigil calling for an immediate and effective ceasefire to the conflict in Israel and Lebanon and to stand in solidarity with
the victims and survivors on both sides. On Monday, August 7, Amnesty International members across the world including in Israel and in Lebanon will call for an end to the violence that has claimed so many lives.
The message of this vigil is three-fold:
1) to call for a ceasefire,
2) to demand that all governments stop the supply of arms to the conflict and
3) to stand in solidarity with the victims and survivors from both sides
of this conflict."

Details for the Santa Cruz Ceasefire Vigil:
Who: Amnesty International, Santa Cruz Chapter and all concerned people
What: Nonpartisan vigil for a ceasefire in the Lebanon - Israel conflict.
Where: Lighthouse Point in Santa Cruz. We will gather on the pathway around the lighthouse/museum.
The address is:
701 West Cliff Drive
Santa Cruz, CA 95060
When: 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Please try to be there by sunset, which is at about 8:10 p.m.
Directions: From Santa Cruz, follow Hwy 1 until it becomes Mission Street. Turn left on Bay Street, stay on Bay until it dead-ends on West Cliff Drive. Turn right on West Cliff Drive;
beach is approximately .5 mile on your left. Parking can be tough, so you may want to plan ahead or ped it.

*This vigil is intended to be a primarily silent vigil, with the opportunity to make a brief statement about human rights.
