The SF LGBT Community Center’s Latino Forum will host an upcoming Community Organizing Meeting, on Wednesday, August 2nd, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, at the Center, 1800 Market St., San Francisco, CA 94102.
Come meet others in your community, get involved and learn more about our group’s role at the Center. We will introduce new events planned for Fall/Winter 2006, hear from Roberto Ordeñana, our Center liaison, and discuss the various volunteer positions available within the group. Spend the evening with us and find out how you can make a difference and have a great time doing it.
New events planned include: Diversity and Unity: Immigration and the LGBT Community, Dia de los Muertos: Celebramos la Vida, Marriage Equality event, artist receptions, and Tamale-Making with Our Family Coalition. As always, your feedback and input is greatly encouraged!
Volunteer positions include:
• Steering Committee – Members are responsible for planning of events, networking, and community outreach. Minimum responsibility is monthly committee meeting, although usually requires additional communications via email/phone.
• Event Planners – Members assist with design, organization and coordination of events, on an event by event basis.
• Community Outreach Coordinators – Members will strategize and provide education and outreach about the Latino Forum and our issues to the Latino/non-Latino/LGBT/non-LGBT community. Task Forces include Marriage Equality, Latino Pride, Recruitment, Community Allies, and others as needed.
This is a free event. Yummy snacks and beverages will be provided.
