Racists attack protesters at anti-Minutemen demonstration in Fremont -- All Out July 28th!
Anti-Minutemen protesters were violently attacked by members of the East Bay Coalition for Border Security last Friday, July 14, all while the cops stood idly by and instead arrested a young woman protester and charged her with allegedly taking one of the racist's airhorn. Video of the assault is attached (approx. 30 seconds). We will be back in Fremont to confront these bigots on July 28, to stand up for immigrants in the Bay Area and let these bigots know that we won't be intimidated -- join us!
Last Friday, July 14, 25 protesters with the East Bay Coalition for Border Security, a racist, anti-immigrant group in Fremont that is seeking affiliation with the Minutemen, were met by twice as many counter-protesters. This was the third time the two sides had faced off this summer – the racists’ message of hate and xenophobia being challenged by the counter-protesters’ determination not to let them grow or intimidate immigrants and people of color in their own community.
For the first time, the counter-protesters were violently assaulted by the Minutemen wannabes and repressed by the Fremont police.
As can be seen in a video taken at the event, a member of the EBCBS, wearing a blue t-shirt with the name of the group on it and a Iron Cross on his baseball cap, shoved and punched two of the anti-racist counter-protesters. This came after another violent altercation with a young Latino man. All of these incidents were unprovoked and came after another of the racist anti-immigrant protesters had accused a young woman of ‘stealing’ his airhorn, which he had been blowing in the faces of the counter-protesters all afternoon long.
Predictably, the Fremont police did nothing to the man seen in the video assaulting counter-protesters, instead letting him drive off in his truck. They did see fit, however, to arrest the young woman for theft (on nothing more than the word of the EBCBS member), take her to jail for five hours and book her on misdemeanor theft charges.
What these incidents clearly show is that the EBCBS members’ claims to be a peaceful, patriotic group that has nothing to do with racism or violence is a lie, pure and simple. They confirm counter-protesters’ assertions that groups like the EBCBS and the Minutemen are in fact front groups for the growth of the white supremacist extreme right wing, and that if they are allowed to grow and gain confidence they will only turn more violent and confrontational, both against immigrants and the anti-racist left in general.
The link between these right-wing groups and the police, moreover, cannot be made more clear. The perpetrators of violence are let off the hook while a young woman is carted off to jail for supposedly taking a $5 airhorn.
The EBCBS will hold its next rally on July 28 in Fremont and once again we will be out there to protest them. Gather at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Mowry Ave. and Fremont Blvd. We want everyone to know that these racists do not reflect the views of most people in Fremont or the Bay Area and that we will not tolerate this kind of hate and violence in our own backyard. We will not be intimidated by racist thugs. We demand that all charges against our sister Stephanie be dropped immediately. Immigrants are welcome in Fremont; racist bigots and their allies in the police department are not!

It strikes me that saying all white people are racist, but no blacks or Mexicans can be racist, is itself racist.
I think all people are prejudice toward what they are use to. This is not racism. We all want to be around what is familiar to us. If you grew up in a subdivision in Encino, your not going to fell comfortable hangin with you posie in Englewood. If you grew up in Arleta and you father never finished high school but worked hard all his life to provide for you, you not going to fell at home in Beverley Hills where parents and children barely speak to one another. Its all relative. It is also becoming quite a cliché to call everyone a racist for not agreeing with your point of view on illegal immigration.
I just feel immigrant or not,if the fight is they are here illegally,then shouldn't we be trying to make it easier for them to become citizens,these so call minutemen need to ask themselves what it is that they are really saying, if its that they just want all immigrants to go home,that in my mind ,is just saying we don't want you here,therefore being racist against people who are only looking for a chance to do better for thier family,I ask why would we as Americans say No to someone who traveled so far to get just a feeling of maybe a chance to be okay,I know I as a mexican american, am so grateful,because some where down the line someone in my family said I want better for my family,so I say thank you for your hard work,pain ,sweat,and tears.Now if there fight is they don't want them here illegally, then shouldn't you be saying they're already here, so lets ask congress to make it easier to become a citizen.This is the United States of America,a country that takes pride in diversity,culture,and all different backgrounds.Remember justice for all.Afterall we should be saying THANK YOU to all immigrants,for the majority of them do work that even I wouldn't want to do.

Let me get this straight. You people actually APPROVE of illegal immigration, and call people RACISTS because they support immigration LAWS, and don't want to just let everybody into the US without any type of checks? I guess you people are SO RICH that you don't mind paying the 40 BILLION DOLLARS a year that the US TAXPAYERS pay for services, schooling, etc., to the illegals. The sad fact is that the majority of these illegals are criminals like drug smugglers, rapists, murderers, etc. They are also people who just want a free ride so they come across the border and drop their "anchor babies" so they can get citizenship for the kids and get social services that they do not pay into, not being citizens or taxpayers. They refuse to learn the language, to assimilate, or in any way become an American. They want to be a Mexican, Guatemalan, whatever, that just happens to live in the US but who has ZERO allegiance, respect, or vested interest in the good of our society. Also, really think about what I am going to say here...Why do they come here? Because their countries are hellholes. Why are their countries hellholes? BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WORK TO MAKE IT BETTER, THEY JUST TAKE AND TAKE AND TAKE. THEY DON't CARE! What makes you think that if they don't respect one law that they would respect any others? Do you want people who will BURN OUR FLAG and set their flags ABOVE ours? Do you want to have to learn another language to get a job because these people will not learn the language that the CITIZENS speak? Do you want to work for 1/3 the pay you do now because these unskilled laborers come here and steal jobs out from under US CITIZENS? Do you REALLY want people here who have NO respect for your mothers, sisters, daughters, etc., and view them as a "POA" that is theirs because they want her? Do you want to live next to people who have 30 people crammed into a 2 bedroom house/apartment, that paint their houes abominable colors, raise farm animals in their yards, park 50 junked out cars in their driveway, in front of YOUR house, let their 800 children run wild and terrorize YOUR children in the public schools YOU pay for, thereby diminishing your child's quality of education and chances for a decent future? Do you want to have people using your front yard as a public toilet, urinating and defecating like animals in front of YOUR children or families? But the biggest, most important question is, ARE YOU WILLING TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THESE CRIMINALS? I have no problem with people wanting a better life and and the opportunuties that the USA can provide, but that is NO EXCUSE for them to come here ILLEGALLY, and then feel they have the right to DEMAND amnesty! My family came from Germany, and we had to go through the proper channels, actually we WANTED to go through the proper channels to become citizens because we RESPECTED (and still do) the laws of our new homeland. we did not demand that everyone speak German to accomodate us, we did not burn the US flag and fly the German flag above it, basically we assimilated and did it LAWFULLY. I suppose I am racist to expect that people who come to live in this country obey our laws and shouldn't be allowed to break laws and be rewarded for it by more welfare, citizenship, basically whatever they want. In any other country, people are not allowed in, they have to obey the laws. Check out how Mexico treat illegal immigrants. They feel that we should let all their citizens in here, but they sure have THEIR border on lockdown. NO OTHER COUNTRY ON EARTH would put up with this, and you people DEFEND these criminals! A criminal is a criminal, regardless of the reason they commit the crime. You can certainly rest assured that I will be out there protesting people like you who defend breaking our laws. You all do have the right idea on the Palestine/Israel thing though! Keep on trying on the immigration issue, you'll soon get the truth! Just a tip: You'll get much farther and be taken a whole lot more seriously when you drop the whole "racism" knee-jerk defense whenever someone has a different view than yours....I think immigrants are fine and great, as long as they come here LEGALLY and we do not reward people who break our laws, whatever their reasons are. We have American citizens who need help and assistance who are not getting it because all our tax dollars are going to support these illegals. How fair and just is that?
