EBAA Announces Week of Action Targeting Andronico's
East Bay Animal Advocates Week of Action at Andronico's: A Five Day Advocacy Event to Protect Chickens (Palo Alto & Berkeley)
Andronico's Market, a grocery chain in the San Francisco Bay Area, plays an important role in promoting humane business practices. As the company's vision articulates: "We initiate and encourage change, taking responsibility for our actions in pursuit of excellence." In fact, Andronico's says it is "committed to the highest standards of animal husbandry."
Shockingly, Andronico's still sells eggs from chickens confined in battery cages. East Bay Animal Advocates recently documented conditions at Andronico's brandname egg supplier - NuCal Foods, Inc. The undercover footage shows intensive confinement of chickens in wire cages. Several
retailers, including Whole Foods Market and Wild Oats Natural Marketplace, have already adopted policies to carry only cage-free eggs. In order to advance the company's commitment to excellence, ask Andronico's to adopt a cage-free egg policy. For more information about Andronico's support of animal abuse, visit [AndronicosAbuse.com, now defunct, was the web address].
