Time:

-

Event Type:
Screening
Organizer/Author:
Wendy Snyder
Location Details:
The Parkway Theater, 1834 Park Blvd., Oakland.
The African People's Solidarity Day Campaign will sponsor a free screening of the video documentary "Touch One! Touch All!", which shows the extreme poverty of workers in diamond- and resource-rich Sierra Leone and chronicles the recent groundbreaking consolidation of the African People's Socialist Party ( ASI ) in Africa, where ASI Party representatives have joined forces with representatives of West Africa's Africanist Movement.
The people of Sierra Leone go without electricity, adequate amounts of clean water and food, education, and everything that so many of us take for granted while foreign companies extract millions of karats of diamonds annuallly from their country and on their backs. Donate your diamonds to the Sierra Leone Support Committee to support electrification, water purification and prosthetics projects for the residents of Sierra Leone themselves.
This event is part of a mobilizing campaign for African People's Solidarity day, sponsored by the African People's Solidarity Day Campaign (APSD). APSD supports the unification, liberation, and self-determination of African people wherever they have been oppressed and dispersed throughout the world. APSD will take place in Oakland, Philadelphia and St. Petersburg, Florida and other cities across the U.S., Canada, and Europe in November of 2006.
