MICHELLE TEA | TUESDAY JULY 18
Memoirist; Author, Valencia and Rent Girl
Publishers Weekly has dubbed San Francisco lit-scene icon Tea "a pop ambassador to the world of the tattooed, pierced, politicized and sex-radical queer-grrls of San Francisco." The author of four memoirs (including the Lambda Award-winning Valencia), Tea is also the founder of all-girl performance tour Sister Spit, which wrecked poetic havoc across the country. She's also the host of (and cookie baker for) the monthly Radar Reading Series at the San Francisco Public Library. Tea will discuss her first novel, Rose of No Man's Land, a zany look at romance and a whirlwind exploration of drugs, sex, poverty and tattoos.
5:30 p.m., Wine and cheese reception | 6:00 p.m., Program | Club office, 595 Market St., 2nd Floor, San Francisco | $12 for Members, $18 for Non-Members | Make reservations online at http://www.commonwealthclub.org or by calling (415)597-6705.
Co-sponsored by The Bernard Osher Foundation.
