Healing: Beyond Reconciliation
Jacques Depelchin
Healing that results from a truth procedure that demands
great trust and effort could help bring about a radical break not
only in arenas rife with conflicts (e.g. Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti), but also
in places where there is relative peace (e.g. USA).
510-841-4824
Jacques Depelchin is from the DR Congo. He is Executive Director of
Ota Benga Alliance for Peace, Healing and Dignity in the DR Congo and
in the USA, a non-profit dedicated to transforming relations within
the DR Congo and the USA, as well as between both countries. He
recently taught a course in Peace and Conflict Studies at UC
Berkeley, Intra and International Conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa.
His most recent book is Silences in African History: Between the
Syndromes of Discovery and Abolition (2006). He is currently working
on a sequel to Silences.
