Thursday, June 15, 7:30 pm. HopeDance Films presents Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories. Mike Shiley, an adventure traveler and filmmaker, decided to go to Iraq by himself to see what was really going on. Shiley, who previously spent a year in the Middle East, was upset with the way the media and the government focused on car bombs and press conferences. This award-winning film has been accepted to eleven film festivals and Mike Shiley has shown the film and spoken to audiences across the U.S. over 250 times. This film won the audience-award at the 2005 San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. He has done stories for ABC News, Nightline and a host of ABC affiliates. Shiley has produced documentary films on Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, Iraq and post-Katrina New Orleans. "Those who are strongly for or against the Iraq war won’t find their positions unequivocally supported by this film. Which is what makes it worth seeing." — The Portland Tribune Go to http://www.hopedance.org/new/film_flyers/newcollege_spr06.pdf to learn of the HopeDance Film series at New College. $6 Donation
