Who: Mark Bowden, an Atlantic Monthly national correspondent; a documentary film producer, author of numerous books including Black Hawk Down, and adjunct professor of creative writing and journalism at Loyola College of Maryland
Event: In Guests of the Ayatollah, author Mark Bowden traces the beginnings of our current conflict with militant Islamic fundamentalism to the Iran hostage crisis. His book, the result of five years of extensive interviews with participants on all sides of the hostage crisis, analyses why the Iran hostage crisis happened, why it played out the way id did, and how it has affected the world in the ensuing years.
