30th Annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival
June 24–25, 2006
WHAT: The San Francisco Free Folk Festival—a perennial gift to the people of San Francisco from the San Francisco Folk Music Club—kicks off on Saturday, June 24th and runs through Sunday, June 25th. Activities run from noon until around 11pm both Saturday and Sunday. As the name suggests, all festival events are free, and features folk, blues, new acoustic and international music.
In addition to performances by nationally recognized performers and favorite local artists, there are hands-on music and dance workshops, International Dance on Saturday and Contra Dance on Sunday, special children’s activities, and programs for the entire family.
Performers this year will include:
* SAUCE PIQUANT is a Cajun–Creole Band whose music is both sweet and wild and moves your heart as well as your feet
* SYLVIA HEROLD AND FRIENDS with their lively and eclectic mix of swing, jazz and folk songs and music
* IN HARMONY’S WAY–Rousing shanties, drinking songs, and a cappella chorus songs of all varieties from a large group of Bay Area folkies
* SLAINTE of San Francisco Bay play Celtic and other forms of acoustic traditional music
* Dynamic KHALEY ADOUNA WEST AFRICAN DRUM AND DANCE bring us West African music, percussion and dance. A real treat!
* Traditional Old Time Music quartet HARMON’S PEAK plays with a bright, uplifting style
and many more!
Food will be available onsite, and there will be a Music and Crafts Marketplace.
