This is to let everyone know that the Monterey Bay Citizens for Middle East Peace, the UN Club, the Conflict Resolution Club and the Amnesty Club will be hosting a panel at the Irvine Auditorium at MIIS on Sunday April 30th from 3-5 pm on the topic: Understanding the Palestinian/Israeli Elections: Present and Future.

Understanding the Elections in Israel/Palestine – What Happened & What’s Next?

A panel discussion will feature Hatem Bazian, Molly Freeman and Bill Monning, who have varied experiences and perspectives on the recent elections in Palestine/Israel.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 30th, at the Monterey Institute of International Studies’ Irvine Auditorium, 499 Pierce St, Monterey from 3 to 5 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Hatem Bazian is a Palestinian professor of Middle Eastern History at UC Berkeley where he graduated with a PhD in Islamic studies, specializing in Islamic Law and the history of Muslims in Jerusalem.

Molly Freeman has a PhD in Complex Systems and conducts research in educational technology. Dr. Freeman is the SF Bay Area chapter leader for Brit Tzedek v'Shalom She serves on the board of Lehrhaus Judaica and formerly served as Chair of the JCRC of the East Bay Community Federation.

Bill Monning is a Professor in the Conflict Resolution Program at MIIS and founder of the international organization, Global Majority. He has worked under contract with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in Ramallah, West Bank in 1999. Monning will present on recent US policy in the region.

The event is sponsored by four organizations: The Student UN Club at MIIS; the Conflict Resolution club at MIIS, the Amnesty International Club at MIIS and Monterey County Citizens for Middle East Peace, a local inter-faith alliance dedicated to the search for a balanced US policy to facilitate a just resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli impasse.
