Neil Young’s “Let’s Impeach the President” Lyrics

by Neil Young
“Let’s Impeach the President”
Neil Young’s “Let’s Impeach the President”
Let’s impeach the president for lying

And leading our country into war

Abusing all the power that we gave him

And shipping all our money out the door

He’s the man who hired all the criminals

The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors

And bend the facts to fit with their new stories

Of why we have to send our men to war

Let’s impeach the president for spying

On citizens inside their own homes

Breaking every law in the country

By tapping our computers and telephones

What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees

Would New Orleans have been safer that way

Sheltered by our government’s protection

Or was someone just not home that day?

Let’s impeach the president

For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected

Dividing our country into colors

And still leaving black people neglected

Thank god he’s racking down on steroids

Since he sold his old baseball team

There’s lot of people looking at big trouble

But of course the president is clean

Thank God
and Neil Young remain silent about ilegal immigrants?
I love this old hippies :(
by better late than never
he was all gung-ho on bush after 9/11 and pro-Patriot act, contrary to where you think he might have stood at the time
by fuck that asshole fraud
"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."
-Mark Twain

Do Neil Young's lyrics cause a stir? Do they generate a reaction? Do they cause you to think? Great! That is what we are supposed to do - not just take the propgranda of the party in power as gospel. It is supposed to be ruled by the people - so if this song causes us to look a the facts, do our homework and listen to alternative news reports (i.e. from Canada or Europe) then I think that it is great. The worst thing that could happen to this county (and with the super-powerful strength of the USA, the worse thing for the whole world) is for 'we the people' to abdicate our responsiblity and just let the President (and other politicians) do whatever they want. It is great if this song causes us to think & act.
