Sat, Apr 29, 7:00pm
First Congregational Church
900 High Street, Santa Cruz CA
The Santa Cruz branch of the Women's International League for Peace & Freedom is quite pleased to present an inspiring performance of the play A Single Woman. Jeannette Rankin is the subject of the play. Rankin was a suffragist, the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress, voted against U.S. entry into both World Wars, and was active with WILPF and the ACLU.
The evening will be introduced by Ellen Murtha, co-chair of Santa Cruz WILPF, and Bettina Aptheker, UCSC Professor, scholar, and activist.
The event will be held at the First Congregational Church on High Street as a fund raiser for Santa Cruz WILPF. Tickets are $10-$25 donation and can be purchased in advance at Bookshop Santa Cruz, by contacting WILPF at 457-6797, or at the door. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
WILPF is pleased to be working in collaboration with the Reel Work Film Festival this year. The 2006 film festival will take place April 23 - May 1st. Reel Work http://reelwork.org and KUSP http://www.kusp.org are co-sponsoring this event.
