The first Santa Cruz County Book Fair has something for everyone!
Come check out the authors, special guests, storytelling, book sellers, youth activities, food, and fun! There will be a variety of activities to chose from throughout the day.
Sponsored by Santa Cruz County Parks Department and School Plus, a variety of local agencies will be involved: Live Oak Library, Live Oak School District, Supporters and Helpers of Arts, Recreation and Parks, Santa Cruz County Reading Association, Friends of the Library, local bookstores, authors, artists, and literacy groups.
Participating authors include: Laurie R. King, Betty Auchard, Martha Alderson, Dan Bessie, Jack Bowen, Dora E.H. Crow,Lisa McKenzie, Lisa Jenson, Gus Gregory, Joanne Jacobs, Vinnie Hansen, Jeanne Johnson, and Michael Rubin.
As a special treat, 2006 Artist of the Year Laurie R. King will give a Profile Performance, which has two parts. Part one, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is a "Writer's Improv." Laurie will be writing a short story live, on-line, based on suggestions submitted by the public. This is a unique opportunity to "look over the shoulder" of a writer during the creative process, and provide prompts which will inform the story. Part two, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., is a panel discussion on "The Mystery of Writing" with Laurie King and former Artists of the Year, Morton Marcus and James Houston.
Authors or vendors interested in participating in this event may download a registrationform or get more information at the website: http://www.santacruzcountybookfair.org. All proceeds benefit Schools Plus.
