well guys for sucessful assertive action
When colleges are forced to allow military recruiters for federal funding, this only mobilizes people. Congratulations to S.A.W. and ucsc for your courage, integrity and intelligence. "You can fool some of the people...", Abraham Lincoln said, "all of the time, all of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time."

Friends – Another victory for counter recruitment. For the third time in a row Students Against War (SAW) and other student organizations ousted military recruiters from the UCSC Job fair.

Need I remind you that due to the Solomon Amendment, recently re-affirmed by the Supreme Count, the federal government can withdraw federal education funds from campuses that refuse access to recruiters. Offending campuses are being punished for not conforming to a practice which is totally unrelated to education, i.e., what does the DOD have to do with education?

The University is in cooperation with an unethical extortion that is practiced by no other entity that access job fairs and other community outreach program.

Additionally the University excuses the “don’t ask don’t tell” military recruiters from the “non discrimination” requirement which all other even participants must sign and affirm.

Time for a change.

Where did you guys get that clear material for the banners? How strong is it? Would it hold up during a pushing match? The action looked great. Keep up the good work out there on the coast and hopefully we in the midwest will follow suit.
