KITKA performs four very special pre-recording session “Cathedral Concerts” in intimate Northern California chapels. Spirit Voices: A Cathedral Concert invites the audience to be immersed in an uninterrupted flow of evocative melodies and sumptuous harmonies from Eastern Europe. Throughout this contemplative sonic experience, the extraordinary voice of Tzvetanka Varimezova will soar above, between and among the voices of KITKA. Following these performances we will record this program for a CD release that will accompany a tour of sacred spaces across the nation in the 2006-2007 season.
Tzvetanka Varimezova is one of Bulgaria’s most sought-after folkloric sopranos. Her stunningly brilliant tone, astonishing virtuosity, and heartfelt expressiveness have mesmerized audiences around the world. She has been a member, soloist, and director of many of Bulgaria’s most acclaimed women’s choirs including The Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria, Le Grand Voix Bulgares, Ensemble Trakia, The Philip Koutev Ensemble, Trio Bojura, and Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares.
