San Francisco, California (March 27, 2006) - Fernando Suarez del Solar, father of one of the first US soldiers killed in the Iraq war, and Iraq War military resisters Pablo Paredes and Camilo Mejia completed their 241 mile march for peace that started on March 12 in Tijuana, Mexico. After a morning of visiting Oakland schools, the now two hundred peace marchers arrived in downtown San Francisco at noon. Marching down Market Street, the March for Peace met up with thousands of students who had walked out of their classes to protest anti-immigrant legislation pending in congress. Up to five thousand people packed the street in front of Senator Feinstein’s office for a spirited but rain soaked rally for peace and justice. After marching to Dolores Park, the March for Peace finished with a final lap around the Mission District.
