Hunger Strike for Immigrant rights-Protest against HR4437-Dolores Huerta

by Sara Blanco (sb37733 [at] ucsc.edu)
When I heard Dolores was going to be there I knew I had to be there. She came out and spoke the truth about the Immigrants who live in this Country. She came out to support the hunger strike.

Dolores Huerta arrives and stands off to the side for a while. She stood there very
serious, attentive, and graceful. She stood there for just a short while; me watching and snapping
pictures of her. When the press got wind of her presence than my view was totally blocked. But I got her here whens she first arrived, beautiful.

She tells it like it is. Email me if you would like the video recordings I took of her. I will try to post them here later.

She says '..the immigrants are the ones picking your fruit right now, taking care of your children, taking care of your elderly, working in the restaurants..-all the difficult work...'
She commands attention.

Go show them your support. Stop by. Say Hi. Say you care and believe.

Dolores Huerta, what a great peaceful presence she has.

Si Se Puede

Inside this tent on this street on this night and for the next six nights-they go hungry. But like one of the speakers said ( I think it was Cesar Cruz). Our brothers and sisters go hungry every day for long periods of time on the border; plus many are killed. Cesar downplays his sacrifice in this way.

When I went back that late night. There were more tents and all the people who
are on the hunger strike are sleeping. Supporters sat up awaker, however, chatting and talking to all the cars that drove up. Yes. Many people at this hour were curious and supporting them.
img_2612.jpg
A supporter runs over to a truck that has pulled over at 2am because the read the sign about Immigrants rights. He asked about what other immigrants were in on this fight and he left knowing that HR4437 affects ALL immigrants not just Mexicans. We are all in this together.

The sign next to one of the tents says

America doesn't know what it's doing if it decides to pass the bill because "illegal" immagrants are their only hope to stay rich like right now.

Before you go off and spin a web of imaged lies...Hear me out. By no means do I wnat students who have come illegally with their parent to return without a complete education. In fact they should register and apply for citizenship. If not, they should leave after they are educated, prehaps to be leader and get mexico backto what is "proud and strong". That is a question, why come but not go bad to the home land and make it stronger better?
If your Illegal=come here with premission, you have to go. If you came and had premission (work premit) but not reapplied, go home. How much should the country take on financial?
Illegals pay taxes...NO! Immigants pay taxes=all who can do stay. Question, why is Mexico so happy to see it citizen go?

VIVA LA RAZA
SI SE PUEDE
We come here to be free, this is supposed to be a free country, why then are we being punished for chosing the chosen land, and being forced back. this isnt fair to those of us who are poor and come here for a better life, and then we end up having to go to the same place where our life is hell. and i know that it isnt just mexicans, but all immigrants, but immagrants make up half, if not more of the country.
by Manuel DeLaPaz Peralta
I was born here in SAN JOSE,CALI. I was born from a MEXICAN couple so, I feel proud of me and (MY RAZA DE CALI). I am against this because its not right for we the people to be getting treated like animals. But we the LATINOS don't like this. If, IMMIGRANTS were not here, what would be of the U.S., nothing of course, because we HISPANICS are a majority in U.S. Sincerely, Manuel DeLaPaz Peralta
