Witness to the War and Occupation: Faiza Al-Araji and Urban Hamid
Faiza Al-Araji is a civil engineer, a blogger, a Shia woman with a Sunni husband, and a mother of three sons: Majed and Khalid, who are both students in Baghdad, and Raed, an architect, who is best known to the world as one half of the famous Baghdad Blogger team. Faiza Al-Araji is also one of the Iraqi women, brought to the US by Code Pink, to explain the effects of war on her family and country with the hope we can bring an end to the violence.
Urban Hamid is an independent videographer, photographer and international journalist who recently returned from Iraq. This multilingual world traveler has contributed footage to Michael More for Fahrenheit 911, and to Deep Dish TV for
Shocking and Awful. His photos and footage of events, like the military raid of Samarra by Charlie Company, document the violent degradation and brutal roundup of Iraqi men that occurs on a daily basis in Iraq.
Hear Faiza Al-Araji explain the high price for war and occupation paid by her family and friends in Iraq. http://afamilyinbaghdad.blogspot.com/
See Urban Hamid's recent footage of the increasing violence caused by US presence.
