HELP STOP RACIST REDEVELOPMENT
by Patrick Monk.RN Sunday, Mar. 05, 2006 at 5:35
PM

Join our black Brothers and Sisters from
Bayview-Hunters Point as they rally to demand
answers
from the Redevelopment Agency and City Planning.
Help
prevent a repeat of the destruction of the Fillmore
and displacement and relocation of residents.

2 DAYS 2 DOOMSDAY
WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON
WHO'S WATCHING THE WATCHDOGS.

SAVE BAYVIEW-HUNTERS POINT
NO MORE RACIST REDEVELOPMENT.
Help Stop "Negro Removal" and White Gentrification
of
San Francisco's Remaining Black Community.

We appeal to all those who still care about and are
committed to Human and Civil Rights and Equality, to
support us in our struggle to preserve and serve the
residents of this community in San Francisco who are
under threat of having their homes and properties
seized in the name of 'urban renewal' and
'redevelopment'; a situation disturbingly analogous to
the current plight of New Orleans residents. Both
communities are the victims of decades of neglect by
local, state and federal authorities. But now
developers and speculators, in cahoots with local
'power brokers', see an opportunity to move in and
gentrify these previously 'undesirable' neighborhoods,
potentially displace and relocate many current
residents, build more upscale and unaffordable
housing, destroying the history and integrity of
existing communities.
We appeal to all and any of you, especially those
within commuting distance of San Francisco, to join
us:-
TUESDAY. MARCH 7th. 3PM. CITY HALL. SF.
for a rally and press conference, MC'd by Maurice
Campbell of ANSWER, prior to the scheduled meeting
of
the Redevelopment Agency, at which they plan to
reclassify over 1,000 acres, encompassing the entire
'homelands' of the community, making all property
potentially subject 'seizure by eminent domain' if the
owners are not appropriately submissive and
compliant
with the Master ('massa') Plan.
Some 'progressive democratic leaders' in California
who claim to be for democracy, have objected to
receiving 'damned emails' and other information about
this. Claiming it is 'an insular issue'..'they dont
need to hear about it'..'quit bothering all the
people'. Maybe if the "Democratic" Party had spent
the
last few decades listening to the people, representing
and responding to their needs instead of just making
empty promises at election time and then negotiating
deals and compromises after all the votes were
supposedly counted, we would not be in the dire
straits we now find ourselves in. One thing the
'radical right' did 'do right' over this period was to
focus on the tedious, unglamorous but essential work
of electing dogcatchers and school boards, identifying
and unifying their base behind a winning strategy and
platform they were dedicated to, and could be relied
upon to implement. They are now reaping their unjust
rewards and the rest of us are being swept away in a
hurricane of disenfranchisement. This issue effects us
all, whether we realise and acknowldge it or not. We
desparately need ethical leaders of courage and
committment who realise that an injury to one is an
injury to all. ALL politics is local, and unless and
untill these self appointed leaders and spokefolks
grasp that..well the alligators will be up to and
chewing on our ears...if they aren't already.
Please help and support us in whatever way you feel
comfortable.
Be There. Show Your Love. Show Your Power.
Thankyou. Patrick Monk.RN. Noe Valley.SF.
