The Human Rights Organization is working to overturn the downtown ordinances and lift the sleeping ban in Santa Cruz, CA. The latest slam against the poor is a proposal to limit the amount of time anyone can be in a parking lot or garage to 10 minutes. This would outlaw the Food Not Bombs feeding at the Farmer's Market, as well as any other lingering by homeless people in parking lots and garages. The HRO is making headway with the downtown commission in putting the brakes on adopting this new law. Join us and help organize. Another upcomming event is to bring Mumia Abu-Jamal's attorney to Santa Cruz to give an update on Mumia's case.
