Interesting how the prochoice side all had very unique and individual signs, and the anti-choice side were pretty much all saying the same thing (in a very patronizing way too).

Any demonstration that is 99.9% mass produced signs is a completely contrived organization with a phony political agenda. This whole show was clearly to build a fascist movement and support fascist political candidates under the guise of opposing abortion. As Bush speaks the loudest about being anti-abortion, you can be sure these were Bush voters. The counties they came from, mostly the Central Valley and the Sierra foothills, are staunchly reactionary voting counties. Of course, the Bay Area has its fascists, and it was the San Francisco Catholic Church that was the primary organizer of this event, but they did not turn out much of the Bay Area. This hate march of American fascism was clearly also a police parade, both blatantly, that is, those in uniform, and the fascist march itself. Like the Ku Klux Klan, these fascist organizations in the North are equally filled with police as proud members. This hate march must be nipped in the bud; I am glad I was there and I will be there again and again until fascism in America is gone.

God has historically hated sinners and frequently condemned them to painful deaths. For instance, as a lesson to those who have the audacity to show physical love for the same gender, God incinerated the genitals, mouths and every other orifice involved in such sexual practices in the towns of Sodom and Gomorra (Genesis 19:24-25). As a lesson to those who are fat and sloppy, God struck a town of gluttons with a vicious plague which made that last drumstick taste none-too-good and wiped out every living person (Numbers 11:33-34). As a lesson to youngsters who fail to be seen and not heard, God sent a bear to maul to death a couple dozen children who had teased a bald man (2 Kings 2:23-24). And during one particularly bad mood, God threw the lessons out the window and killed every man, woman, child and infant on the planet (except Noah's family) with a Great Flood (Genesis 7:23). It's a good thing these John 3:16 liberals weren't living then.

There is absolutely no reason to opt for abortion when God allows us, and in some instances, orders us, to rid ourselves of troublesome children after they’re born. Wasn’t it God who said, “Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones” (Psalms 137:9)? Why insist on prenatal killing when the post-natal killing options are so widespread? The Bible authorizes us to kill just about any child who becomes burdensome. According to Deuteronomy, if a child is unruly and disobedient, we not only have the option of killing him, but it is mandatory that he be stoned to death (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). The same is true for a child who speaks to us with foul language (Exodus 21:17). Or a child who hits us (Exodus 21:15).

The bottom line is that only coerced abortion is allowed in the Bible, not abortion on demand. And God, in his infinite compassion, provided us with the means of eliminating troublesome children once they are born and we know for sure they are unwanted. So tell your skeptical acquaintances to put away the coat hangers, once and for all, and let the child be born, but have stones and the Proverbial rod handy, just in case.

I don't understand the God part. Actually, I don't understand how you can base your ideas on a God, a story. It's crazy.

Total hypocrisy.

The Bible is a book of different people's experience as they grappled with their god. It is not God, it is a book. Yet, idolaters have been so vain as to believe they know some god's will and can interpret these vastly contradictory stories as if they were God. This is blasphemy.
This blasphemy has led to the burning of untold numbers of women, crusades where millions were killed, and the misguided missionary vendetas where it was always better to kill the "heathen" to save his soul than to honor him as just another of God's Creation.

I am afraid you "Christians" are getting ready to launch another bloody, brutil bloodbath in the name of some god. When will you ever learn? When will you get off trying to play god and begin to live according to what Jesus taught: Heal the sick, feed the hungry, love everyone, especially your enemies, and let God be God.

I pray that this devil's work of condemning others in the name of some god will not cause another dark blotch on the history of this planet.

Jesus said give all your money to the poor and follow me, love your enemies, heal the sick, feed the poor and don't worry. Yet you boast of having a church with a $750 million budget, 2000 "humble staff" and a radio show. You are not following the teaching of Jesus and should stop calling yourself a Christian. You are arrogant enough to pretend to know the will of God, that is blasphamy.
Jesus came to set things straight yet you set his teaching aside and go back to the old testament and cherry pick verses that validate your egotistical call to fame, wealth and power over the lives of others.

Perhaps you honestly believe that your leaders are the good guys and we, progressives, are the bad guys. Your leaders are leading you astray. In this country they have allowed corporations a free rain to polute our air, water and land so that deaths to polution related disease rivels the number of abortions. Around the world death due to US corporations far exceeds abortions. Abortioins decline when women feel secure in their ability to care for the child. Yet with their land confiscated, their farms taken, their livlihood taken, their environment poluted, they see no future.

Then some fundamentalist Christian ministers teach their congregations that people only suffer if they deserve it. Hogwash. People's suffering is caused by the greed of corporations and power-hungry politicians. And now that the US Gov. is paying off those preachers who will tell their flocks who to vote for, the new crusade is on.

The problem is that every quote is from the Bible. This is the problem with the Bible, it's possible to defend the most barbarous acts with quotes from it. I looked all over this site and it was hard to tell if it was a joke because there is so much like it in the "real" fundamentalist churches. There are those who are calling themselves "Christian soldiers" who will conquer the world for Jesus. Throughout history Christians have killed people to "save" their souls.

I don't even know where to turn when Jesus' teaching is distorted so much as to insist that children be born into poverty, abuse and neglect.

I'm praying for us all. It will take a miracle to prevent the fundamentalist takeover of our government at this point, and I believe in miracles.

the funny thing about being pro-choice is that all of their mothers were pro-life at least for them. how can you be pro-choice when you can only have that opinion if your mother did <i> not </i> have an abortion?

there is something inherently wrong about that platform for the fact that nobody has the ability to create themselves. our entire existence and our ability to have ideas and convictions is dependent on someone giving us life.
