WRONG on two major points. Minutemen are not vigilantes. Vigilantes take the law into their own hands. Minutemen SOP's only allow observation and reporting to the USBP. I challenge you to prove that anything else has occurred. Listen to the news.

I was at the Sacramento MM Rally. Interesting. Overall we Minutemen and Minutewomen are employed. Peaceful. Law abiding. We pay TAXES. We VOTE. I wonder how many of those protesting the MM live off of our tax dollars. But not to worry, the tide of public opinion is with the Minutemen and Minutewomen. We will ultimately prevail - peacefully and at the ballot box.

The Minutemen are giving vigilantes a bad name. Reality is they are not vigilantes at all and in fact are agents of the imperialist Bush regime. Micheal Chertoff of Homeland Security hall of fame came to their aid when he proposed strengthening the border to protect US from terrorism. This after the ruse of Bush claiming he disapproved of vigilantes at the border, well, the "good ol' down home boy" chummy pal orator from Yale (wannabe Texan) wasn't lying there because the Minutemen were never vigilantes to begin with!!

Not to mention the boisterous vocal support from Arnold the Nazi Actor who reads his scripts from Sacramento pulpits with media savvy charm and charisma. Just as skilled with public speaking as his role model and fellow Austrian Adolf Hitler..

Now i need to back up the above statement with facts without being redundant. The current conditions of massive poverty in Mexico y sur are because of economic inequality in their own homeland, a small minority of wealthy elites controlling the land, police, government and economy to perpetuate their continued grasp of power and resources. Globalization, NAFTA, CAFTA, WTO, PPP, etc. also contributes to the imbalance between rich and poor. Theft of land from indigenous people to benefit wealthy ranchers and timber barons also influences poverty. The landless campesino movement is beginning to address the return of stolen land. Maquiladoras (sweatshops) on the border are a glaring example of the damage caused by free trade globalization agreements like WTO..

When undocumented immigrants enter the US they sometime are able to find temporary employment at one of the many plantation agribusiness fields in CA. Will use the Imperial Valley as an example. The growers of iceberg lettuce in the Imperial Valley divert massive amounts of agua for irrigation from Rio Colorado that would under normal circumstances enter the delta of the Sea of Cortez and provide fresh water and sediment nutrients for the bottom tier of the ecosystem (plankton), providing indigenous Cucapa with food in the form of sealife and wild rice. Instead the Cucapa get saline water contaminated with the petrochemical pesticide residue of the diverted water returned from the corporate plantations. The ecosystem of the Colorado delta has steadily declined over the last few decades, and many species extinctions are approaching. Yet the Imperial Valley iceberg lettuce growers continue irrigating their crops, spraying fields with pesticides and profiting from undocumented labor. If an undocumented immigrant becomes ill, they are dismissed and returned to the southern side of the border by the corporate plantation masters..

So the Minutemen won't even mention any of this as either the source of the effect of the undocumented immigration. The Minutemen prefer to tow the right wing neo-con line and scapegoat undocumented immigrants as the source of the inequality. They won't protest the corruption in both the Bush regime and the Vincentes Fox (Mexico) Coca-cola regime that broke their promise with the Zapatistas. The Minutemen won't address the theft of water from Mexico and the profiteering of plantation agribusiness (y how did these agriculture corporations get all that desert land? Gift from the King of England perhaps?) from taking advantage of undocumented immigrant labor. Then again neither does their direct opposition. Another Tweedle-dum and dummer scenario, neither party in the binary arguement wants to look at the truth..

The opposition to the Minutemen come in different cults (Democrats of Aztlan Nation?), though they are correct in their statement that the Minutemen are cowards and racist. By ignoring the sources of economic inequality as prime motivation for undocumented immigration and focusing energy on the ineffective band-aid border, the Minutemen are nothing but another freak sideshow in the circus of US imperialism. The Minutemen cower behind the protection of the police state and usurp the title of vigilante, their only vigil may be the support given to the drug runners and their hired help driving those SUVs emblazoned with "US Border Patrol." Who ever said that sitting in the desert with radios wasn't a lucrative business. Why do you have to sneak into this country and demand your rights? What rights? You have a country and it needs to take care of your needs not my country and my money. I worked for the benefits that rightfully belong to a US Citizen and not a person who has crawled over , under, or on top of the border fence. And keep your pregnant girls in your own country.
