Local artists and contributors to "Wobblies," a bombastic new graphic novel edited by Paul Buhle, will speak about their contributions to the book and the historical significance the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW)-- arguably the most radical and influential labor organization in US history.

Current, local IWW organizers connect the past struggles (wildcat strikes, anti-racist unionizing, and the fight for the 8 hour work day) with the present day campaigns demanding justice for truck drivers in Stockton, and an end to capitalism, amongst other things.

About the book "Wobblies:"

Pushing the boundaries of radical history and the form of the graphic novel, bold illustrations recount the Lawrence 1912 strike and the Mexican agrarian revolt to tell the stories of some of the IWW’s most memorable names: Big Bill Haywood, Carlo Tresca, Emma Goldman, Mother Jones, Joe Hill and Ricardo Flores Magon. Wobblies features artwork by Mike Alewitz, Chris Cardinale, Sue Coe, Carlos Cortez, Fly, Sabrina Jones, Peter Kuper, Josh MacPhee, Mac McGill, Seth Tobocman and more.
