Maybe 20,000. Nowhere near 50,000. Today, at the Folsom St Fair, you will see 100,000 or more. Priorities, anyone?

Now that we've established that you can't count...
very nice pics!
Why does the "Down With Empire" pic look so Photo Shopped? A coulpe the signs have no shading and the script looks pixilated. What gives?
Im right below the sign in question, and I look photoshopped also. It was probably the light or something...

In terms of the Photoshop look, Im guessing that that all your seeing is an overexposure of the white part of the sign (and maybe an effect that comes from how digital cameras deal with brightness and contrast)
The pixilation on the BART Cop signs is actually part of the signs themselves. They were printed and blown up (here is a closeup of one of the signs: http://www.indybay.org/uploads/29_liars.jpg ).

FYI: The signs were overflashed... didn't quite work. But there you go.
Also, the pixelation is probably from using JPEGs rather than RAW images. JPEGs don't handle high contrast that well. But RAW images take up too much space, and I not rich enough for a stack of memory.
I love the angle and the light that is captured in this photo. It definitely shows the positive vibes that were flowing from everywhere during the march.
Yeah, tens of thousands marching for totalitarianism. How inspiring...
As I always say: If you don't like ANSWER why don't you organize a march of your own.
This Photo is very funny.
There is even a Jedi behind the "Down With The Empire" sign. I noticed a few other insignificant changes also.
I hope the other photos and this web site does not lose credibility due to this gag.

The photo hasn't been changed. Why exactly would a "down with empire" sign be added to a photo like this as there were multiple signs just like this?
... and where is this Jedi you a refering to?

BTW: lossy JPEGs can add strange artifacts to photos. This doesn't mean that they were photoshoped. And why whould someone photoshop something in that was already there? It's not like someone photoshoped something in that said "Bush is Great!"
For all you photoshop conspiracy theorists. Here is another "Down with the Empire" photo taken on the same day:

It's completely unedited, full resolution, and uncompressed (and retains the original file name). The only other difference between it and the posted photos is that the posted photo had a small amount of general brightness and contrast enhancement (not in photoshop btw.. in gimp) which made the sign stand out.

Notice how the shadow from the fake sign is the same on the poster on the right and the cloth banner on the left.
Also the light source for that shadow is all wrong. the light is coming from the bac-left of the guy.
There should be no shadow at all!

If you run any number of utilities on this photo you will see that it is completely un-photoshoped and unaltered.

Also, I can't see the jedi that Umbrax is refering to. Even if there were a "Jedi" there it wouldn't mean any photo-shopping had occured as people were dressed in all sorts of fanciful costumes.
