Ace Pub Music Benefit for Katrina Survivors
You are cordially invited to a benefit for Katrina Hurricane and Flood Survivors at Ace In The Hole Cider Pub on Saturday, October 1.
It will go from noon until 6:30 p.m.
We plan to celebrate and sustain the culture of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. We especially want to support the music and the joie de vivre of Louisiana Creole and Cajun culture. This will be a positive community event. To that end we expect a respectful gathering, which is also a good party! Mardi Gras beads, masks and a special menu will be available.
The following groups will perform; Love Choir, Shari & The Deeper Rhythm, Kirana Peyton’s Black Bird Stitches, Dave T. Carter and Rick Miller of the Trailer Park Rangers and Ron Dubin’s The Fourth Street New Orleans Jazz Band. DJ Mama will provide intermezzo tunes.
There will be no cover charge. Ace in the Hole Pub is located at 3100 Gravenstein Highway North, at the corner of 116 and Graton Road.
The money raised will go to various charities. Information about them will allow you to choose to whom to donate. Emphasis will be on grassroots, in-place, on the ground groups doing relief work.
Cash donations will go to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund. Those funds will be delivered to the Sonoma County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The other featured groups are: Sonoma County Leadership America (Community Baptist Church, Santa Rosa), Baton Rouge Area Foundation, The Tipitina's Foundation, The United Houma Nation Hurricane Relief, Families and Friends of Louisiana’s Incarcerated Children Hurricane Relief Fund, Veterans For Peace Chapter 116 – Mendocino County (Providing food and relief in Covington, Louisiana), New Orleans Rebuild Green, Hurricane Katrina Community Action – American Federation of Musicians Local 174-496, New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund sponsored by The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Backbeat Fund, Federation of Southern Cooperatives Land Assistance Fund, The NAACP Disaster Relief Fund and numerous other disaster relief organizations.
We will have information sheets available at the event so that you can read about these charities and decide to whom you wish to write a check. Everyone’s checks will be collected, documented and we will mail them to the appropriate organizations.
So that you can select the groups that you want to donate to directly, you are strongly encouraged to bring your checkbook. Credit card donations will not be accepted at the event but information on how to make them by telephone or internet will be provided.
Think of this as a Katrina Survivors Charity Fair!
We gotta do something about this mess.
Laissez Les Bon Tempts Continue!!!
Merci Bien,
Miles Mendenhall
