What: Meet the Author Event. “Capitalism, God, And A Good Cigar: Cuba Enters The Twenty-First Century.”
Event: What it is like to have lived for more than a decade suspended between communism and capitalism in Cuba? Following the collapse of Soviet communism, Fidel Castro legalized the dollar, opened the island of Cuba to tourism, and allowed foreign investment. In Capitalism, God, and a Good Cigar, journalists, writers, and documentary filmmakers describe what these changes, implemented since the early 1990s, have meant for ordinary Cubans. The book's contributing writers and photographer will present an intimate account of life in Cuba today.
