Photos from Camp Casey, Crawford, Texas

Over a hundred supporters of Cindy Sheehan continue to hold vigil near the Bush vacation ranch near Crawford, Texas. New folks continue to arrive regularly from all over the Lone Star State, and from all over the country. This was my first night in the now infamous ditch, and here are some photos of the day...

These faces of these young men... too young to have died. And for what? Oil? Is that why we're there? Wake up America - look at these faces real close and then ask yourself why.

I would like to know just how hard Cindy Sheehan try to keep her son from volunteering. Should she be mad at Bush or mad at herself?

As A grandson of a man that served this country in WW2, I am glad to be a patriotic person but,in all honesty, this war is starting to cost more than it is worth ,where human lives are concerned.
My Grandfather, thnakfully , made it home alive & in one peice, but so many did not . It doesn't just affect the families in this war but it also affects the memories of those whom lost loved ones that fought for our freedom in Vietnam as well as WW1 & WW2 , among other wars.
In my opinion, Once the number of troops getting killed starts to decrease the balance of the playing field, Bush & his co horts should cut their losses & bring our boys home.
Out of all the quotes I can think of that help this point there is one from the Wesley Snipes Movie called "Murder At 1600" When Alan Alda's character tells Roonie Cox's Character that " Your should have brought those boys & girls home, either dead, injured, or otherwise!"
Not to get overly political. but i think that G W Bush is aleep at the wheel where it comes to logic, cause all he & his buddies seem to be doing is using the war as a reason to gamble. Making side bets as well as gambling on the future is this country's reputation, which, the last time i checked, wasn't that good in the first place.
Before i get too intense here I have one more thing to say to those that not only don't like how most of us live our lives in the " Land Of The Free", but those that complain about how messed up this country is yet don't try to help in doing something about it...... "Maybe you oughta move the hell out of this country if you don't like what you won't help fix!!!!"

I was one of those lucky to have my student deferment during the Vietnam ? (whatever) and rather than going overseas, I obtained a college degree to work on bettering our communities. Do I feel guilty that I did not fight in a so-called war? Today, that answer is NO. We are seeing a repeat of the wasteful, human tragedies that accompany the military-industrial complex of politics and greedy energy corporations. The WAR on Terror is to justify stealing money from needy middle class households trying to make ends meet, lining corporate pocketbooks and put the fear of God into people who otherwise believe in life, not an unnecessary war.

I've often wondered if Cindy is angry at herself. In an interview Cindy said Casey knew his unit was going to be going to Iraq at the time he re-enlisted but she made no comment as to if she made any effort to talk him out of doing so. Cindy herself was already against the war at this time. I na later interview she claims to have offered to take him to Canada or even run him over with a car but that doesn't jive with what she said earlier.

I suspect she may be taking her wrath out on Bush for her own lack of effort to convince Casey not to re-enlist and thus end up going to Iraq. However, it's possible that Casey never informed his parents that he was going to re-enlist until he actually did so just as he never informed his parents that he enlisted back in 2000 until he had already signed up.
by really doesn't matter
if she was angry at herself, too. She may be, but the fact remains that if folks don't feel a significant anger re: the Bush administration, their eyes aren't open....

God could have placed our souls into anybody - anywhere.

As a woman, I could have been born into an Iraqi body and wonder if my worth would ever be greater than that of a dog...what kind of woman would have I been? I could have been born into a Somolian body and have gone through vaginal circumcision as a young girl...what kind of woman would have been? I could have been born in China as a second or third daughter....I would have not made it to be a woman for I would have been 'depopulated'.

But God was good and had me in His site from the beginning, just as He has you. He blessed us to be birthed into a County where the people are raised with a purpose and valor not only for their own dreams and thoughts, but also for their Freedom.

A Freedom which offers opportunities for us to actually -do something- about the above situations on many levels and amazingly not be 'thrown out or jailed'.

We have a Freedom to live. Really live. If an American goes to Iraq or Afghanistan- we do not have freedom, for that is not a way of life for them unless you are a 'man' (maybe) and still....you have many restraints. But we are expected to abide by 'their law' and to set aside our ways....but when they come here...they too learn how to get involved in the Freedom.

Freedom to show emotion and express it. Free to (unfortunately) over indulge a 'behavioral preference' in our politics and judicial system...(I don't think this will be happening much in the mid-east maybe unless you're what's considered here, a pedophile and mutilator)

America is Blessed and we should keep many things in mind as Americans, such as the above. Many Americans have allowed their mindsets and realities to become horribly distorted through over emphasizing and rallying over one sides point.

Media mongers chime in on one side for the so called 'overall opinion'....in which does not hold mine obviously...but then again maybe mine is the overall opinion and those involved in such displays may be the 'squeaky wheel'.

True Patriots need to Stand Up and not be Silent anymore. Take the kids off the physic drug profits and discipline them! We are going to have a very 'drone' minded generation coming if you don't get with the right program.

Wake up All........times change too much and not necessarily for the utmost better of our overall good and future.

Freedom, Wisdom and Understanding is from God....we should be Thankful for the opportunity to become True Patriots.

Really? Do you really believe that? Do you really believe that God, any God would be selective on which 'soul' he puts in what body in whatever country, some of which are barbaric? Not even for a second do I believe that an Almighty God would be so cruel to his 'creation'! Are you so blind in your faith in God that you can't see the hypocritical contridiction that you speak of?
By your implication of thought you are basically saying that God chose George Bush and Dick Cheney to be in their position to take away from those not so lucky to be in or from America and to kill in Gods name?
By your implication you are saying that those women born in China, Iraq, or Somolia somehow deserved Gods wrath by being born in those countries and that their worth as a human is less than yours because they happen to have been born there?
This is why organized religion (not faith) of/in God is so very dangerous in a democracy when it is introduced as part of government, with that said, if you think even for one second that Christianity or any other religion wouldn't in a heartbeat do to women here in America as they do in those other countries all in Gods name, you are blind!
The anti-war movement is more about government not pre-emptively attacking countries, using Gods name but is really for oil and exposing the criminality and vileness and lies and hypocrisy of those that would do so!
In my book, this make every single person that exposes the powers that be (as the frauds they are, especially when they espouse God as their motivation) TRUE PATRIOTS to what America is supposed to stand for!
Read the Constitution, the Bill of Right especially, read the definition of Habeas Corpus and the Rule of Law! America is not a religious nation, it is a nation of secularism that tolerates all religions!
Wake up and please, do your self a favor and repeat your words looking in a mirror as you say them and perhaps you might recognize the hypocrisy of your own words!
