Bay Area Rally - Support Cindy Sheehan!
About 200 people gathered at Powell and Market tonite at 5 pm. to rally in support of Cindy Sheehan, who is garnering national press for her courageous vigil outside Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas.
Speakers from Not In Our Name, Code Pink, Bay Area United Against War, Revolutionary Communist Party, The World Can't Wait Campaign, Iraq Vets Against the War, CCCO, Gold Star Families for Peace, Military Families Speak Out, and College Not Combat spoke in support of Sheehan and against the ongoing war and occupation of Iraq. Many speakers encouraged those in attendance to organize and mobilize for anti-war demonstrations planned for the Sept 24-26 weekend in Washington D.C. and cities around the country.

How can you put your self above all other parents of solders who have died in Iraq?

We need more coverage of the environment Cindy and her fellow parents of dead soldiers are having to endure. I heard her describe having to walk down in a drainage ditch with the bugs and mud, while the sheriff who forced her down there is marching in the road above with the reporters???
We need photos like that, which emphasize where they are and the disparity between what we as free Americans and what she as the mother of a dead soldier should be free to do as guaranteed by the 1st Amendment, and what's happening in the dictatorship our nation has become.
