1.  Viva!USA National (Soy) Ice Cream Day events approaching.

Our National (Soy) Ice Cream Day events are scheduled to take place this weekend in cities around the country.  Activists will pass out Soy Delicious soy ice cream samples and information about the cruelty of the dairy industry to passers-by, proving that delicious summer treats can be cruelty-free.  These events are part of our ongoing dairy campaign to educate the public about the harsh realities of dairy production and to convince major ice cream chains like Ben & Jerry's to carry a vegan option.  We are asking all our members to call Ben & Jerry's today and request a vegan option to kick off this weekend's events!

The Taking Action for Animals Conference is this weekend, July 16-18, at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.  Along with many other leaders in the animal rights movement, Viva!USA will be there.  Campaigns Director lauren Ornelas is scheduled to speak as are prominent members of Farm Sanctuary, HSUS, ALDF and others.  The conference focuses on information and activism, offering overviews of successful campaign strategies as well as workshops to help activists develop their skills.  Stop by our table to find out more about Viva!USA, or just say "hi".  We'll see you there!
