A look at folk practices in the United States." In this class we will discuss American folk practices from around the country but specifically Southern/South-Eastern, Pennsylvanian, Appalachian and Ozark folk practices. We will discuss the beliefs, superstitions and charms of American folk practices with a few practical demonstrations.
This week's class will focus on Ozark and Appalachian folklore. Next week's class (the 6th) will focus on Hoodoo, with a practical example.
Bio:
Thomas Albin has had over a decade of experience working with American folklore. He is fully conversant with the native practices of Hexen Croft, Hoodoo, Conjure and the practices of the Appalachian and Ozark mountain folk. Thomas applies his knowledge of these practices to serve the needs of the community in various areas, from winning a court case to finding a lost love.
This class is part of a Free School that has recently started in the East Bay.
All classes are DROP-IN FRIENDLY. For a COMPLETE CLASS CALENDAR (we have over 25 classes for this summer) and MORE INFORMATION on the free school, please visit:
