Tribute to Chet Helms
On the recent passing of Chet Helms, friends and associates call into Enemy Combatant Radio and express their memories.
Listen now:
Chet Helms was a major figure in the history of the alternative world. He helped direct the elitism away from the rock & roll world, and gave real life to the activists who maintained the gentle, true path.
He is best know for bringing Janis Joplin to San Francisco, 'discovering' the Fillmore Theatre, managing the Avalon Ballroom, causing the Summer of Love to occur, and giving rise to the rumor that being an alternative figure would never obtain financial success.
Chet lived a true, rich life - surrounded by hundreds of admirers and cohorts, who made the Family Dog a well loved pooch.
