Sacramento + Northern California Anarchist Events Calendar

Disclaimer: The events listed in this email are not necessarily affiliated with each other, the anarchist café or its planners, and in addition, law enforcement and members of investigative bodies such as the FBI are not invited to any of these events. In fact, if you are from any such organization, stop reading this now, it is not intended for you or any other governmental body.

This is a list compiled of events that may or may not be of interest to anarchists. Feel free to come check them out (whether you consider yourself an anarchist or not!).

We are pleased to announce a new Anarchist Zine Distribution based out of Sacramento called Black Powder Press. For a catalogue containing hundreds of titles on subjects such as DIY, Theory, Direct Action, Ecology, Animal Lib, Education, Gender, History, Indigenous, En Espanol, Prison issues, and much much more, contact blackpowder [at] riseup.net. -Thu, June 30 ---- Sacramento Anti-G8 Organizing Meeting! PLEASE COME TO THIS! (Cops and investigators are not welcome). Interested in heading to San Francisco for any of the three days of solidarity against the G8 on June 6, 7, and/or 8. Need a ride? Can you provide transportation for others? We will meet and discuss logistics, have a short workshop on the basics of protesting, and much more. The meeting will be at 7:00pm sharp at the SEIU union hall at 1911 F street.

-Wed - Fri, July 6-8 --- West Coast Anti-Capitalist Convergence Against the G8 in San Francisco. From July 6-8, 2005, the annual G8 summit will be held in Scotland. The G8 is a forum of the rulers of the eight most industrialized, wealthy, and powerful states in the world. Every year they meet to discuss how to further their interests, expand their empire, and tighten their grip on every aspect of our lives. In solidarity with those protesting the summit in Scotland, a west coast solidarity convergence will take place in SF (as well as one in the midwest and one on the east coast). We in Sacramento are lucky enough to live barely over an hour from the west coast convergence, so lets show our numbers and swarm the bay! On Wednesday, there will be film screenings, discussion forums, a fundraiser, and more. There will be a spokescouncil (big discussion) on Thursday to decide on how/what action will take place the next day. Friday is the big day. There will be a march and action against the G8 and the Capitalist War Machine at 8:00pm starting at 16th and Mission (by the bart station).
"Global capital will show the full force of its domestic military capabilities in Scotland - we can confront these summits on our own terms, and this mobilization is a step in that direction."
For more information, check out http://www.anarchistaction.org/g8
