Oakland Protest CA's Newest Prison
California is slashing services, health care, libraries, & education all across the state. Why? It's the prisons. Californians United for a Responsible Budget protested CA's *33rd state prison* which opened on June 1: the $750 million boondoggle, Delano II.
Oakland's can't afford to keep it's schools open. And California is slashing services, health care, libraries, & education all across the state. Why? It's the prisons. Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB) protested CA's *33rd state prison* which opened on June 1: the $750 million boondoggle, Delano II.
The prison industrial complex is literally killing us -- our communities, our families, our individuals. CURB held statewide protests on June 1 in Oakland, SF, Fresno, Delano and Los Angeles to protest the opening of the Delano II prison and the closing of public institutions that truly build safe communities.
Speaking in Oakland were Ari Wohlfeiler from Critical Resistance, Linda Evans from All of Us or None, Laura Magmani from AFSC, Wilson Riles from the No on Measure Y campaign, and Dan Siegel.
CURB is working to close prisons throughout the state, starting with Delano II. Close prisons! Not schools, hospitals, libraries and services!
